Nat Hentoff hasn’t retired yet and he probably never will. Mr. Hentoff, the columnist, preeminent jazz critic, prolific liner-notes writer, civil liberties activist and constitutional scholar who turned 85 last Thursday, recently published his 35th book, “At the Jazz Band Ball: Sixty Years on the Jazz Scene” (University of California Press), and has plans for several more.
